A CLOCKWORK ORANGE returns in a restored 4K version
METROPOLIS Artificial intelligence, robot rights, social inequalities, and identity: special event in theaters only on October 13, 14, and 15 with one of the most visionary animation films ever made. After the extraordinary success of AKIRA, which captivated over 55,000 viewers in theaters, returns to cinemas in a restored version another masterpiece written by the visionary Katsuhiro Ōtomo: METROPOLIS, a classic of Japanese animation that combines visual wonder and profound social commentary. Based on the 1949 manga of the same name by Osamu Tezuka, partly inspired by Fritz Lang's 1927 film and directed by Rintarō, METROPOLIS (2001) is an intense and prophetic work, capable of speaking to all generations. Set in a dystopian future where humans and robots coexist in a precarious balance, the film tells the story of a detective and his young assistant, involved in an investigation that will lead them to uncover a secret capable of upending the city's destiny. With a graphic style that pays homage to classical animation and an overwhelming soundtrack, METROPOLIS returns more relevant today than ever, offering an astonishing reflection on identity, memory, and the boundaries of humanity in the era of artificial intelligence.
