*The Merry Widow,* the famous operetta masterfully composed by *Franz Lehar,* is set in Paris and tells the story of an imaginary kingdom, Pontevedro's embassy, trying to have the wealthy widow Hanna Glavari marry Count Danilo Danilowich, her former flame. The charming lady is the widow of the very rich court banker of the small state of Pontevedro; should she marry a foreigner, her dowry would leave the state coffers, consequently leading to economic collapse. The ruler of Pontevedro, very worried, tasks his ambassador in Paris, Baron Mirko Zeta, with finding her a Pontevedrian husband. Meanwhile, the ambassador's wife, Valencienne, enjoys the attentions of the French Count Camille de Rossillon. Hanna and Danilo still love each other, but old resentments related to their past make them keep their distance out of pride. The relationship between the ambassador's wife and the Frenchman Camille de Rossillon intertwines with the skirmishes of Hanna and Danilo, creating situations of jealousy, misunderstandings, and the Baron Zeta and Njegus's adventurous attempts to resolve the situation. After various ordeals and suffering, Danilo declares his love for Hanna, who tells everyone that she loves him in return and chooses him as her husband, giving the audience the anticipated happy ending.
