Trek: Santuario Madonna di Monteforte (147 m.)

**SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 16** another loop hike among the warm autumn colors in the heart of the Lucanian Apennines National Park. We will cross various trails, clearings, mountain meadows, and paths through woods of oaks, beeches, hornbeams, and chestnuts. We will reach the summit of MONTEFORTE, an area of great natural interest from every aspect: geological, floral, faunal, and anthropological. Our view will be able to sweep 360° across the Lucanian peaks, from Pierfaone to Volturino and Monte di Viggiano up to the Lucanian Dolomites. We will descend to the Monteforte Sanctuary, an ancient hermitage complex, later a Marian sanctuary from the Early Medieval period, a pilgrimage destination since 1500. Additionally, there will be the POSSIBILITY (subject to a minimum of 15 people signing up) to HAVE LUNCH in a SMALL MOUNTAIN HUT in the heart of the forest, enjoying dishes and flavors of the local tradition.
