Bud Powell Jazz Orchestra diretta da Simone Stefanizzi

The "Bud Powell Jazz Orchestra" is set to be the star of a special evening on Sunday, December 14th at 8:30 PM at the Auditorium “Cezzi” in Maglie, featuring special guest trumpeter Andrea Sabatino.

The ensemble, led by maestro Simone Stefanizzi and composed of 20 musicians active in the jazz scene, offers a lineup that ensures a broad and well-articulated sound. They will indeed be the main attraction of a performance organized by the Cultural Jazz Association “Bud Powell” of Maglie, which will showcase a duet between the ensemble and the trumpeter. Over the years, Sabatino has built an international career, sharing the stage with artists like Fabrizio Bosso, Paolo Fresu, and many others, with a musical approach that combines respect for jazz tradition with a personal, fluid, and communicative sound.

The “Bud Powell Jazz Orchestra” offers an original repertoire rooted in the highest jazz tradition, including unpublished compositions by Simone Stefanizzi himself. These pieces highlight his expertise in wind instruments and in the sound world of film music, adding cinematic nuances to the narrative. Alongside these original music pieces, the evening will pay tribute to the great international jazz tradition with creative arrangements of historical pieces, including an original reinterpretation of “My Favorite Things.” There will also be renditions of traditional Christmas songs reimagined in a jazz style for the occasion.

Thus, the concert represents not only a moment of listening but an immersive experience where innovation and tradition meet: learning, reflecting, and sharing the beauty of jazz becomes the concrete mission of the “Bud Powell” association, founded in November 2009 to preserve the artistic heritage created in Maglie and in Salento from previous associative experiences in the name of jazz.
