On Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 6:00 PM, in the Hall of the Castle of Ceglie Messapica, the book “Rhythms and Rhymes for adults who still dream like children” by Cosimo Caliandro and Vittorio Mattioli will be presented. After the greetings from presidents Massimo Gianfreda of the Caelium Association and Pietro Maggiore of UniTre Ceglie Messapica, poet Damiano Leo will engage in a dialogue with the authors. During the evening, some poems will be recited by Nella Aquaro. Additionally, the program includes a musical moment with a concert by pianist Cosimo Gigliola.
The book consists of forty-one poems composed collaboratively. “They are dedicated to those who, although grown up, retain the sense of enchantment, the rhythm of wonder, and the desire to smile with the gaze of yesterday.”
Cosimo Caliandro, specialized in General Surgery, has gained extensive experience in the Emergency Rooms of Modugno, Bari San Paolo, and the Policlinico of Bari, then continued at the Cancer Institute "G. Paolo II" in Bari, where he served for over ten years as Medical Director in Oncological Surgery. Upon retiring, he passionately dedicates himself to poetic compositions that, through a clear and accessible style, aim to convey sensations and emotions born from observing daily life, with a positive and inclusive message.
Vittorio Mattioli, specialized in Anesthesia and Resuscitation, devoted over forty years to the medical profession, with a significant role in the last fifteen years as Director of the Critical Area Department and Operating District at the Cancer Institute "G. Paolo II" in Bari. Passionate about sailing, he wrote poetry, reflections, short stories, and toasts dedicated to the crews while sailing. In the collection Rhythms and Rhymes, the author combines irony, tenderness, imagination, and popular culture, reflecting the dual nature of a doctor and a poetry enthusiast that characterizes his journey.
Cosimo Gigliola, graduated with honors in Piano, later obtained a second-level academic diploma in Musical Disciplines, Piano school, solo curriculum with the highest marks. He also graduated with honors in Literature from the University of Bari. He performs concerts in Italy and abroad, receiving flattering success from critics and audiences everywhere. Formerly a piano teacher at the Pareggiato Musical Institute of Ceglie Messapica, at the Conservatory of Music of Lecce, and some Comprehensive Institutes of the Brindisi province, he is currently a tenured piano teacher at the 2nd Comprehensive Institute of Francavilla Fontana.
