Concerto d'organo per celebrare il nuovo anno

**Notes of Hope and Tradition: the Ancient Organ of San Francesco d’Assisi welcomes 2026 in Monopoli**

Despite the complexities of the historical moment, music does not stop and conveys a message of beauty and resilience. **On Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 7:30 PM, the monumental Church of San Francesco d’Assisi** in Monopoli will host a must-see event to inaugurate the new concert season.
**International organist Pierluigi Mazzoni**, a teacher, harpsichordist, and research musicologist, will perform.
The concert, dedicated to the conclusion of the Christmas season, represents a precious opportunity to listen again to the authentic voice of the ancient **"Petrus De Simone" organ from 1710**. This instrument, a gem of Baroque organ art, will be the protagonist of a sound journey through the centuries.
The musical program has been carefully selected to enhance the local and national artistic heritage: compositions by Apulian and Italian authors who lived between the 17th and 19th centuries will be performed, with a thematic focus entirely dedicated to the suggestions and melodies of Christmas.
"2026 will be a year rich in experiences, beautiful realities, and much art in music, despite the great difficulties surrounding us," the organizers explain. "We want to offer the community a moment of spiritual and cultural elevation, celebrating the beginning of the new year under the sign of our historical heritage."
The event is free of charge. Residents and tourists are invited to participate and rediscover the charm of a sound that transcends the centuries.
