Clara, Robert e Johannes
Live music
The Camerata Musicale Salentina presents a new event in its 56th Concert Season, dedicated to three central figures of European Romanticism. On Sunday, February 15, 2026, at 6 PM, at the Teatro Apollo in Lecce, the concert titled “Clara, Robert, and Johannes” will bring together on stage two internationally experienced performers, violinist Domenico Nordio and pianist Roberto Plano, offering a program entirely centered around the works of Clara Schumann, Robert Schumann, and Johannes Brahms.
Domenico Nordio, trained by Corrado Romano and Michèle Auclair, is now recognized as one of the most acclaimed Italian violinists. After an early debut at just ten years old and winning the "Viotti" Competition at a young age under the presidency of Yehudi Menuhin, he embarked on a career that has taken him to the world's major concert halls, including Carnegie Hall, Salle Pleyel, Teatro alla Scala, Barbican Center, and Suntory Hall, collaborating with orchestras such as the London Symphony, Orchestre National de France, Suisse Romande, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, and the RAI National Symphony Orchestra.
Roberto Plano, winner of the Cleveland International Piano Competition and honored in numerous prestigious competitions—including Van Cliburn, Honens, Geza Anda, and Sendai—has developed a career that has seen him perform in important international venues, from Lincoln Center and Steinway Hall in New York to Wigmore Hall in London, from Herculessaal in Munich to the Parco della Musica in Rome. He has collaborated with orchestras such as the Houston Symphony, Kremerata Baltica, Festival Strings Luzern, and RTE National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by musicians like Sir Neville Marriner, Pinchas Zuckerman, and Gianluigi Gelmetti. A pianist highly regarded in both solo and chamber music, he has been described by the Chronicle as “the Pavarotti of the piano” and by the New York Times as an artist of “remarkable maturity and depth.”
The meeting of Nordio and Plano, both deeply engaged in the chamber music repertoire, will bring to life an interpretation attentive to the historical and stylistic connections that unite Schumann and Brahms, providing the audience with a musical journey that traverses different yet profoundly interconnected poetics. The concert will offer an opportunity to listen to some of the most significant works of Romanticism through two mature, rigorous interpretations that are fully aware of the tradition to which they belong.
With this initiative, the Camerata Musicale Salentina renews its commitment to offering the public well-curated programs and high-profile interpreters, confirming a tradition that for over half a century has represented a landmark in the promotion of classical music in the region.
