The project of the **“Voices of Andromache” artistic residency**, promoted by the Paolo Grassi Foundation of Martina Franca, concludes with a **world premiere performance** that will culminate in the final concert scheduled for **Thursday, February 19, 2026** at **8:00 PM** at the **“Valerio Cappelli” Municipal Theatre**. Access to the concert will be **free with** **reservation via Eventbrite.**
On the morning of Thursday, February 19, a matinée concert will also be held exclusively for schools, designed to introduce students to the languages of contemporary music and to reinterpret classical mythology through an experience of listening and in-depth exploration.
The project is funded through the **SIAE “For Those Who Create” – Professionalization of Artists Grant** (2024 edition), promoted by the Ministry of Culture, with the aim of supporting the creativity and professional growth of young authors, artists, performers, and musicians under 35, making them protagonists in the promotion of contemporary Italian culture and intercultural dialogue.
The residency has involved **fourteen artists under 35**: three composers and one librettist, three opera singers (two sopranos and one mezzo-soprano), and seven instrumentalists (violin, viola, cello, harp, flute, clarinet, percussion).
The three composers **Andrea Maria Augeri, Mattia Dattolo, and Gilberto Bartoloni**, along with librettist **Fabrizio Funari**, began their residency journey in May 2025, under the guidance of tutors Matteo D’Amico and Sandro Cappelletto, working on the creation of new scores and original texts. Starting from February 10, 2026, the selected singers and instrumentalists recruited through a public call will begin their residency activities in Martina Franca, beginning with a phase of training and study of the unpublished works, followed by the final phase of ensemble work.
The core of the concert will consist of **three new compositions for female voices and ensemble**, inspired by **three interventions of Andromache in the Iliad**, each configured as an autonomous “scene”:
Andrea Maria Augeri
*FIRST SCENE – ΘΆΜΒΟΣ (Dizziness)*
Mattia Dattolo
*SECOND SCENE – ἜΚΣΤΑΣΙΣ (Ecstasy)*
Gilberto Bartoloni
*THIRD SCENE – ΦΎΣΙΣ (Nature)*
Through these three perspectives – dizziness, ecstasy, nature – the project proposes a **contemporary reinterpretation of the figure of Andromache**, deepening the **theme of the violence of war** through the emotions and thoughts of women, ancient and modern, who “suffer the painful consequences of war more than anyone else.” The mythical voice thus becomes a current voice, a bridge between memory and present.
On the podium, for the final concert, **Mattia Dattolo** will conduct the ensemble composed of **Giulia Ferraldeschi, Martina Tragni** (sopranos), **Clara La Licata** (mezzo-soprano), and the instrumentalists **Emanuele Crucianelli** (cello), **Aldo Chiarulli** (percussion), **Alessandro Malcangi** (clarinet), **Viola Muzzi** (violin), **Ada Ricioppo** (viola), **Andrea Vecchiato** (flute), **Virginia Vignera** (harp).
The training program took place in the equipped spaces of the Paolo Grassi Foundation under the guidance of the **tutors and teachers Roberto Abbondanza, Sandro Cappelletto, Matteo D’Amico, Martina Giovanetti, Federica Leandro, and Gabriele Pro**, in an intensive experience of study, creation, and interdisciplinary exchange.
The concert on February 19 represents the public restitution of a complex path of training and **artistic production that intertwines myth and contemporaneity, word and music, memory and new creation**, offering the audience an intense and profoundly current artistic experience.
