Da "BRASIL NAS CORDAS" al progetto cantautorale pugliese

The music project "From 'BRASIL NAS CORDAS' to the Apulian singer-songwriter project" arises from the shared passion of two Apulian guitarists for Brazilian popular music (MPB). The duo takes its name from the CD **“Nas Cordas”** by **Franco Chirivì**, released in 2019 under the label @Dodicilune. The work features **Gianni Rotondo** as both guitarist and vocalist. This artistic partnership, which began with a predominantly instrumental album, opens up to a much more vocal repertoire in which the two guitars intertwine to create a macramé upon which Rotondo's soft voice rests. The interpretation touches on Brazilian classics — Jobim, Veloso, Djavan, Nascimento — but also the contemporary music of the country, such as Vinicius Cantuaria. All of this is always personal but respects a certain “Brazilian essence,” as some critics have already highlighted in reviews of Nas Cordas. The concert **from "Brasil Nas Cordas" to the Apulian singer-songwriter project** will include unreleased tracks from the new singer-songwriter project, performed in Italian and the Apulian dialect.
**GIANNI ROTONDO** (guitar/vocals)
Composer, guitarist, and performer, he has performed at national and international festivals after a long stay in Rome, where he was involved with Brazilian popular music for about twenty years (jazz club Alexander Platz 1986-1987). He has collaborated with Karl Potter (Pino Daniele), Michele Ascolese (F. De André), Pasquale Angelini (Teresa De Sio), Mauro Dolci (RAI show “Quelli della notte”), Stefano Rossini, Augusto Alves, and Paolo Rocha, as well as with well-known Apulian musicians: Mario Rosini, Paolo Romano, Giacomo Desiante, Franco Chirivì, Tommaso Colafiglio. Selected by the Milan agency “Balich Worldwide Shows” (Rio 2016 Olympics), he performed at an event of international significance held at the Apulian resort Masseria S. Domenico - Fasano (Br), in September 2014. He is currently a “music designer” at the “Borgo Egnazia” resort (Fasano - Savelletri - Br) within the “Vair” Spa, for which he devised, at the beginning of 2011, a music therapy project aimed primarily at foreign clients. He also composes and produces minimalist music for certain environments dedicated to care and psychophysical well-being within the same Spa. In 2025, Olimpia Simone will record “Qui con me” (by R. Amurri – G. Rotondo) in her first album: “Ingannevole” (Soul Treasure Record). Among the musicians: Mario Rosini, Fabrizio Bosso, Paolo Romano, Mimmo Campanale.
In 2022, he participated as the main voice on the track “El negro chino” by composer and arranger Enrico Solazzo (CD “Perfect journey” – Via Veneto Jazz), which features the most important national jazz musicians and international artists. In February 2019, a track by G. Rotondo - “Un giorno perfetto” - is featured on Patty Pravo's album, “RED,” (lyrics by Calvetti and Rettani). In April 2019, he appears on Franco Chirivì's CD (entirely dedicated to guitar), “Nas Cordas,” (ediz. Dodicilune), dedicated to Brazilian music, where he sings and plays with Chirivì the only sung track on the album, the famous piece “Carinhoso.” (The CD includes an endorsement from American guitarist Mike Stern). On Spotify, YouTube Music, etc. He released with Paolo Romano the CD “Caminho do mar” (2006 - Ediz. Self-Milan), a work dedicated to Brazilian popular music, containing also unreleased tracks composed by Rotondo and Romano. Among the guest musicians: Mario Rosini (second place at Sanremo 2014), Tommaso Colafiglio.
