Tricase becomes the capital of Sport and Prevention: the 13th edition of "Tricase is Sport" kicks off.

From May 31 to June 2, three days of Olympic disciplines, social inclusion, and free health screenings under the banner "Never Give Up." Three days dedicated to the culture of sport, community well-being, and health prevention.

From Sunday, May 31 to Tuesday, June 2, 2026, Tricase will host the thirteenth edition of "Tricase is Sport," an event promoted by the Tricasèmia association in collaboration with the Municipality and coinciding with the National Day of Sport established by CONI. This year's edition, guided by the programmatic theme "NEVER GIVE UP," focuses on the synergy between associations and the territory, broadening its scope beyond pure athletic practice to embrace social inclusion and health protection. The event's packed program will open in the afternoon on Sunday, May 31, at Tricase Porto. On this first day, the event will support a strong social cause thanks to collaboration with the Diocesan Caritas of Ugento – S.M. di Leuca. From 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, near Bar Menamè, the "Tent of Good Play" will be set up, an informational and awareness space against the scourge of gambling linked to the national project "Winning is Stopping." In parallel, starting at 5:30 PM, the Circolo Tennis Tricase will promote the initiative "Smash Against Gambling and Addictions," offering free mini tennis and pickleball tournaments to the community. On Monday, June 1, the spotlight will shift to youth competitions and scientific dissemination. In the morning, starting at 9:00 AM, the "Città di Tricase" Sports Hall will host the "Triangular of the Republic," an Under 13 volleyball tournament featuring teams from Virtus Tricase, MB Volley Ruffano, and Progetto Azzurra Alessano. In the evening, at 7:00 PM, the Atrium of Palazzo Gallone will host the scientific conference "Tricase is Health: Health Begins with Prevention." Moderated by journalist Gloria Roselli, the meeting will delve into the importance of preventive screening tests through presentations by specialist doctors Giuseppe Franchino (ASL Lecce), Gabriele De Masi De Luca (Panico Hospital), and Daniele Sergi (Director of Mammographic Screening UO ASL Lecce). The final day, Tuesday, June 2, will represent the heart of the event and will take place entirely at the Municipal Park on Via Pirandello, except for the early hours of the morning. At 9:30 AM, the traditional ecological bike ride will begin, a cycle tourism route that will traverse nature and the historic Tricase villages with a refreshment stop in Piazza Pisanelli. Starting from 5:00 PM, the green area on Via Pirandello will transform into a true multidisciplinary citadel. On the health front, the Lecce Committee of the Italian Red Cross will set up "The Health Citadel," a space where citizens can undergo free screening tests and electrocardiograms. Simultaneously, the sports areas and the central stage will come alive with practical demonstrations of dozens of disciplines (including Mamanet, boxing, tuning, volleyball, soccer, taekwondo, mountain biking, yoga, horseback riding, tennis, activities for people with disabilities, rugby, basketball, Catch’n Serve Ball, bocce, athletics, dance, MMA) organized by local associations. Particular emphasis will be placed on the inclusive dimension of the event: starting at 4:00 PM in the dedicated area, there will be motor coordination paths and mini-basket sessions for people with physical, intellectual-relational disabilities, and neurodegenerative diseases led by Lorenzo Presicce, followed at 5:45 PM by a performance from the inclusive dance school Kitri Ballet, and at 7:30 PM, by the moves of freestyle football champion Alessandro Colazzio. The afternoon will be rounded off at 6:30 PM near the Cremglassè with the Talk Area titled "NEVER GIVE UP: grassroots football resists!" a debate on local football that will see the participation of the officials and athletes of ASD Atletico Tricase and the popular shareholding committee, all accompanied by a DJ set from Steven The Prince.
