Bungaro in concerto ad Acustica con la prima pugliese di "Fuoco Sacro"

Writing music is like designing projects that inspire the future. This is how Bungaro defines his creative urgency — the same force that gives its name and substance to Fuoco Sacro, the latest album by the refined singer-songwriter, who will perform in concert in Manduria on Friday, June 19, in the outdoor spaces of the Produttori di Manduria winery.

The artist beloved by Ornella Vanoni is in fact the next name on the programme of the tenth edition of Acustica, the acclaimed music series organised by the Manduria-based winery together with Artilibrio, under the artistic direction of Salvatore Moscogiuri.

The concert in the Messapian city marks Bungaro’s debut in Puglia with the work released just two months ago, following his recent live performance at Le Trois Baudets in Paris — the theatre at the foot of Montmartre, a temple of singer-songwriter music, famous for launching Jacques Brel and Charles Aznavour and for consecrating Edith Piaf.

Accompanied by Antonio De Luise (piano and double bass) and Marco Pacassoni (vibraphone and percussion), Bungaro takes up his guitar to perform the eleven tracks of Fuoco Sacro, songs steeped in musical and literary poetry and enriched by Brazilian, Cuban, Greek and Neapolitan influences, as well as echoes of the Salento region that flows through his Brindisi roots.

It is precisely this land that inspired the singer-songwriter to involve Lorenzo Jovanotti, with whom he performs La luntananza, one of the album’s many prestigious collaborations. The record also features precious contributions from artists including Jaques and Paula Morelenbaum, Omar Sosa and Paolo Fresu.

Particularly striking are the songs Tempo presente, dedicated to Ornella Vanoni and featuring Chico Buarque on the album, and 23 Maggio, written in memory of Antonio Montinaro, head of Judge Giovanni Falcone’s escort team, who was killed alongside Falcone in the Capaci massacre on that same date in 1992 — which also happens to be Bungaro’s birthday.

The Acustica10 concert will also feature some of Bungaro’s greatest hits, including Guardastelle, winner of the Volare Award for Best Music at the 2004 Sanremo Festival.

Fuoco Sacro is the artist’s eleventh album. Over nearly forty years of career, the Brindisi-born musician has collected four Critics’ Awards at Sanremo, three Lunezia Awards and two Musicultura Awards.

These achievements confirm the value of his songwriting, which has earned him recognition on the international scene as well, thanks to collaborations with artists of the calibre of Youssou N’Dour, Guinga, Daniela Mercury, Cesária Évora and Ivan Lins, with whom he received a Latin Grammy nomination for the project Inventario.

In Italy, in addition to the aforementioned Vanoni, Bungaro has collaborated with Fiorella Mannoia, Marco Mengoni, Eros Ramazzotti, Malika Ayane, Antonella Ruggiero, Massimo Ranieri, Gianni Morandi and many others.

The concert on June 19 will begin at 9:00 pm (gates opening at 8:30 pm), with free admission. On the occasion, a food & wine refreshment area will also be available.
