What could be better than a walk in the historic center of one of the most charming villages in Salento? A cultural walk with a glass in hand, of course.
After a highly successful edition in Lecce,
"Vini Vaganti" arrives in Parabita for a summer edition that will allow the public to get to know the historic center of this beautiful town just a few kilometers from Gallipoli and the producers of natural wine in Puglia.
When
The event is scheduled for
Friday, July 3 starting at 7 PM. The event is born from the avant-garde spirit of
Natalino Del Prete, owner of the namesake winery in San Donaci and a founding father of the natural wine philosophy in Puglia. It is no coincidence that the event is organized by Natalino and his daughter
Mina Del Prete. After two editions in Lecce and one in Scicli, Sicily, the event now reaches Parabita for a summer edition, made possible thanks to the enthusiasm of
Matteo Brandiello and Giuseppe Barone from the Dipenseria. The mayor, Stefano Prete, welcomed the event with enthusiasm and assured his participation.
The format
Vini Vaganti works like this: with the purchase of a wristband (20 euros), participants receive a personal glass that entitles them to unlimited tastings. They will be able to build their own personalized tasting path among the venues participating in Vini Vaganti, which will host one or more producers. The producers themselves will tell the story of their wineries and describe the wines being tasted. Thus, during a gastronomic walk, participants can visit the center of Parabita while making several stops to taste natural wines.
The map and participating venues
At the
Dispenseria on Via Padre Serafino da Parabita, there will be
Natalino Del Prete from the namesake winery in San Donaci; a short distance away, at the
Contenitore, participants can learn about the wines of
Marta Cesi. As they walk towards the square, at
La Madre, they can taste wines from
Agricola Q.
At the
Fiorenza deli on Via Mazzini, they can taste wines from
Francesco Marra. In Piazza Umberto I,
Santi Benatitti hosts the
Loco winery. At the bar
La Porta (Via Coltura), the
Podere ai contadini wines, from the Jazzile Cooperative in the Valle d'Itria, will be featured. Other venues include
Elbafe (Viale Stazione), where they can learn about the
5e30 wines (also from the Jazzile Cooperative);
Radice (Via Immacolata) with the
Supersanum winery and finally
Mavè (Via Impero), where they will meet the
Piccoli Piccoli winery (Jazzile Cooperative).
The pairing with Votiva
In partnership with
Progetto Parabita, Vini Vaganti offers participants the opportunity to combine the walk with a guided tour of “Votiva,” an exhibition of votive niches reinterpreted by great artists such as Michelangelo Pistoletto, Mimmo Paladino, Francesco Arena, and many others.
The protagonists
“This edition in Parabita - recounts
Mina Del Prete - will finally be an edition of Vini Vaganti dedicated entirely to Puglia. We are excited to land in the beautiful historic center of this town, responding to the call of our friends Matteo and Giuseppe from Dipenseria, who have enthusiastically dedicated their energy to making this event a success. The project was immediately received with great enthusiasm by the mayor and the entire municipal administration, whom we thank. We have also established a collaboration with the cultural association Progetto Parabita so that Vini Vaganti participants for this special edition can also enjoy the art that permeates every corner of this little Salento gem through free guided tours.”
“I always enjoy meeting my producer friends - continues
Natalino Del Prete - but above all allowing them to get to know each other and to spread the culture of natural wine to the general public. For me, Vini Vaganti is a dream come true, and seeing it grow and dock each time in a different location fills me with pride.”
What are natural wines
Natural wines require minimal intervention during production: in the vineyard, organic or biodynamic farming is preferred, and no chemical additives or aids are used at any stage of winemaking, maturation, or aging. Fermentation occurs spontaneously, that is, with the use of indigenous yeasts. Natural wine producers allow their vineyards to evolve naturally: the artisanal approach and the refusal to use chemical herbicides or pesticides result in a consistently limited production. These and other curiosities will be shared directly by the producers who will serve their wines, sharing their personal stories, the stories of their businesses, and presenting the wines being tasted.
