**Sunday, June 28** continues the program of “**OrgaNova**,” the international organ festival of Santa Maria del Passo, under the artistic direction of **Margherita Sciddurlo**. The event is scheduled for **8:30 PM** at the **Church of San Domenico in Mola di Bari**, featuring a concert titled «*From the Light of Baroque to the Shadow of Romanticism*», showcasing one of the best young talents of the latest generation, organist **Giuseppe Fanelli**.
The evening's program will present a musical journey spanning over two centuries of European organ history, engaging in dialogue between the architectural brightness of German Baroque and the expansive timbral explorations of French Romanticism.
Opening the concert will be the «*Praeludium in G Major*» by Nicolaus Bruhns (1665-1697), one of the most fascinating figures of the 17th-century Nordic organ school, where improvisational enthusiasm, formal freedom, and great contrapuntal intensity coexist. This will be followed by several renowned pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach, the true ideal center of the program: the chorale «*Schmücke dich, o liebe Seele*» BWV 654 («*Adorn yourself, O dear soul*»), one of the most intimate and luminous meditations of Bach’s maturity; the Trio Sonata No. 1 BWV 525, a masterpiece of balance and transparency constructed with surprising chamber elegance; the monumental Fantasia and Fugue in G minor BWV 542, one of the most grandiose and dramatic compositions in the entire organ repertoire; and the chorale «*Liebster Jesu, wir sind hier*» BWV 731 («*Beloved Jesus, we are here*»), a collected and spiritual piece characterized by a writing of great expressive purity.
Closing the concert will be the «*Allegro*» from the Sixth Symphony Op. 42 No. 2 by Charles-Marie Widor (1844-1937), a symbol of the great French organ school of the 19th century. This brilliant and compelling piece, built on an impressive timbral palette, represents the transition from the Baroque organ to the modern symphonic organ, projecting the concert towards monumental and romantically impactful theatrical sounds.
Born in 2001, **Giuseppe Fanelli** graduated with top honors in Organ and Organ Composition at the “Nino Rota” Conservatory in Monopoli, under the guidance of Margherita Sciddurlo, with whom he continues to pursue specialized studies in Organ, as well as in Composition and Choral Conducting with teacher Cinzia Cannito. In recent years, he has participated in masterclasses with some of the most important interpreters in the international scene and has performed in various concert series in Puglia, in addition to having played the famous Cavaillé-Coll organ at the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary in Lourdes.
Among his most recent accolades are the First Absolute Prize at the XXI International Competition “Don Vincenzo Vitti” and participation as a finalist in the National Arts Prize. Fanelli is currently the organist at the Basilica of Saints Medici in Alberobello. The “OrgaNova” festival, promoted by the Arte&Musica association, continues its commitment to enhancing the historical organ and young interpreters, once again transforming the Church of San Domenico into a listening space dedicated to the great works of the international organ repertoire.
Admission is free until seating is exhausted. OrgaNova is promoted and organized by the cultural association “Arte & Musica,” with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Puglia Region, and the Municipality of Mola di Bari, in collaboration with the Pasquale Battista Foundation and supported by the main sponsor “Levigas Luce e Gas,” as well as other local sponsors.
