AIDA Storia di amore e di guerra

The masterpiece of Giuseppe Verdi is reborn in a modern transcription for wind orchestra commissioned by ANBG.

An event destined to mark an important chapter in the history of Italian band music and in the enhancement of the great national lyrical heritage.

**Saturday, July 4, 2026**, in the prestigious setting of **Piazza Ciaia** in Fasano, the absolute premiere of **“Aida – A Story of Love and War”** will take place, a new artistic production conceived by the National Association of Concert Bands, which presents a modern transcription for wind orchestra of the famous masterpiece by Giuseppe Verdi on the occasion of the 155th anniversary of its first performance.

The initiative arises from the desire to create a bridge between the Italian operatic tradition and the world of great concert bands, offering the public one of the most beloved operas of all time through a musical language that combines artistic rigor, innovation, and cultural dissemination.

The new transcription, commissioned by ANBG and created by Maestro Silvestro Sabatelli, who is also the artistic director of the event, represents an important work of reinterpretation and enhancement of the Italian lyrical repertoire. The goal is to provide a new listening perspective without betraying the extraordinary expressive power of the original Verdi work, making the opera accessible even to those who are approaching musical theater for the first time.

The story of Aida and Radamès, suspended between love, war, power, and sacrifice, will come to life through a spectacular form that will unite the wind orchestra, choir, soloists, and narrator in an engaging and immediate narration.

Leading this important production will be Maestro **Alberto Veronesi**, a conductor of recognized international prestige, who will direct the historic **Grande Orchestra di Fiati “Gioacchino Ligonzo”** Città di Conversano, one of the most representative entities of the Puglian band scene and beyond.

On stage will be the **Coro Opera Festival**, prepared by Maestro **Giuseppe Maiorano**, and a cast of outstanding vocal talent comprised of:

**Viria Cavallino** (Aida)
**Pantaleo Metta** (Radamès)
**Giulia Diomede** (Amneris)
**Michele Antonetti** (The King)
**Nicola Napoli** (Amonasro).

The narration will be entrusted to actress **Giulia Pace**, who will guide the audience through the most significant moments of the story, contributing to making the artistic experience even more intense.

**“Aida – A Story of Love and War”** is the result of a cultural vision aimed at combining tradition and innovation while simultaneously enhancing the historical role of concert bands in the dissemination of cultured music in our country.

The realization of the initiative has been made possible thanks to the support of the **Municipality of Fasano** and the **Chamber of Commerce of Bari**, which have shared and supported a project capable of combining artistic quality, territorial identity, and the enhancement of Italian musical heritage.
