At
Aperitivo d’Autore, it's the turn of
Serena Mazzini, who on
July 22, in
Crispiano, will talk to us about her new book,
Your Loneliness is Our Business (
Rizzoli).
After the success of
The Dark Side of Social Networks, the author has just released another investigation explaining how artificial intelligence is transforming human relationships. Through research, data, and direct observation, the book explores phenomena such as virtual partners, social robots, and algorithms designed to monetize human fragility.
The appointment is at
8 PM at
Masseria Triglie, where the audience, as per the usual format of
Volta la carta, will have the opportunity to enjoy a rich aperitif this time paired with the historic wines of
Cantine Lizzano.
Joining the discussion will be the expert in social media strategy and critic of new media, along with the artistic director of Aperitivo d’Autore, Vincenzo Parabita. We look forward to an evening of authentic flavors and urgent reflections that can no longer be postponed.

• THE BOOK •
“The more I learned to familiarize myself with these technologies, the more I saw the pattern: they all belong to the same mechanism. A single market of human intimacy with a simple principle: the more fragile a human being is, the more they talk; the more they talk, the more data they produce; the more data they produce, the more the system perfects itself and becomes difficult to abandon.” In a very short time, artificial intelligence has gone from being a work tool to one of the most intimate presences in our lives: we ask it for advice on a relationship, we use it for therapy, we share things we wouldn’t tell anyone else. Major tech companies haven’t halted this drift; they’ve designed it. But what happens when confiding in a machine becomes easier than talking to a human being? Serena Mazzini returns to investigate the social impact of technology and explains a phenomenon that is as widespread as it is invisible: the transformation of loneliness into a global market. Weaving together personal experience, data, and investigations, she reveals how our emotionality has become an economic resource. From therapy platforms that turn distress into subscriptions to virtual partners that block intimacy behind a paywall; from children's toys that record every word spoken in their room to synthetic pornography that recreates the face of real people without their consent; from robots for lonely elderly people to chatbots that resurrect the dead, depending on how much one is willing to pay. Mazzini immerses herself in the world of AI applied to human relationships and emerges with one certainty: it is an industry that does not solve loneliness but makes it sustainable, scalable, and above all, profitable. “Your Loneliness is Our Business” is a cultural and political investigation that invites us to ask a fundamental question: who truly benefits from this technology?
• THE LOCATION •
Nestled in the land of the Hundred Masserie and surrounded by centuries-old olive trees and dry stone walls, Masseria Triglie still tells today the authentic rural life of Puglia, amidst ancient traditions, unspoiled nature, and genuine hospitality. Built between the 17th and 18th centuries, the masseria retains the charm of white stone architecture, with its internal courtyards, stables, and areas dedicated to agricultural production. Today, it is a place where time seems to slow down and offers visitors authentic experiences linked to the land, typical cuisine, and ancient peasant customs. The “closed court” structure has been carefully restored, respecting its history and adapted to the needs of travelers. Masseria Triglie is the ideal place for those who want to spend days in complete relaxation, but also as a venue for small ceremonies, business lunches, and meetings, where guests can appreciate culinary wisdom combined with the authentic flavors of nature and zero-kilometer products from the garden. The structure features six comfortable rooms, with exposed stone and restored in a way that preserves their ancient charm, as well as three spacious apartments, and a swimming pool nestled in the Crispiano countryside.
