**Casual Tasting Turns 10**
On July 20 in Trani, the event with the highest number of foreign wines in Southern Italy returns. Over 200 wineries, 14 chefs, and 50 stands just steps from the sea. To celebrate the first decade, the first foreign guest chef, Giovanni Scaraggi from Athens, debuts.
Trani, June 26, 2026 – On Monday, July 20, at Il Vecchio e il Mare in Trani, Casual Tasting returns, the Italian and European wine festival. In the area extending to the lighthouse on the Sant’Antuono pier, the event with the highest number of foreign labels available for tasting is back for enthusiasts in a single event in Southern Italy.
There have been a total of 10,000 attendees, 1,000 professionals, and over 2,000 labels presented at the tasting booths over the first decade: figures that illustrate the growth of a format created in 2015 by Luca Palmieri, founder of Food & More, and Antonio De Feudis, Francesco Mastrodonato, and Rocco Fusco, partners and creators of Il Vecchio e il Mare. For this edition: over 50 stands, 14 chefs, and more than 200 Italian and foreign wines. For its tenth anniversary, Casual Tasting innovates with a first-ever: Giovanni Scaraggi, chef of the Sole Giaguaro restaurant in Athens, will bring the first foreign culinary contribution in the history of the event to the stage in Trani.
**How Casual Tasting Was Born**
“We wanted to create an event that allowed tasting foreign wines without traveling miles,” explain the creators of Casual Tasting. “With the help of a network of friends and professionals, we built the idea of an evening where wine knowledge was complemented by gastronomic entertainment and professional tasting, assisted by producers and professional sommeliers.” The goal: to attract industry professionals and enchant wine lovers. “After many years, it has become a beloved and replicable format, but in 2016, it was impossible to hold a wide tasting outside of official circuits.”
**Why It's Called Casual Tasting**
The name comes from the desire to create an event centered on the quality of wines—“the highest possible”—in a strictly informal atmosphere. In Puglia, the expression “a stare” is the focus of many venues inviting people to stop without ever lowering the quality of their offerings. Casual Tasting is the event where one can relax, have fun, and learn. Not in an aseptic concrete cube, but just a few steps from the sea. “From Piedmont to Sicily, from South Tyrol to Puglia. From Champagne to Burgundy, from Alsace to Mosel and much more,” promise the organizers.
**Wineries at Casual Tasting 2026**
There will be even more producers participating physically with a free stand dedicated to them: with 72 Italian wineries and 28 foreign ones, the tenth edition of Casual Tasting is set to amaze with the best products from the wine scene.

**An Event to “Fall in Love Again” with Wine**
Casual Tasting dedicates its tenth anniversary to all enthusiasts and professionals seeking lightness and good things to drink and eat. “We believe that in an informal setting like Il Vecchio e il Mare, strong and fruitful partnerships can be born, thanks to informal interactions between producers and industry professionals. Furthermore, after years of ‘demonization’ of wine, this year we want Casual Tasting to encourage people to fall in love again with the culture of good drinking.”
Casual Tasting is organized by Food & More and Alegra Group, with media partnership from Pugliosità – Buono da vivere.
