EVOART (TM) Meets Narrative: “Painting with Light on the Fabric of Time”

Wednesday, August 12, Via Lunga degli Aborigeni, Pulsano: a pictorial narrative by Carmelinda Petraroli and Lilly De Siati

What will take place on Wednesday, August 12, starting at 8:00 p.m., outside the “Il mio rifugio” Art Studio of Carmelinda Petraroli, under the honorary patronage of the Municipality of Pulsano, will be neither a traditional book presentation nor a classic en plein air art event. What will happen in the heart of Pulsano’s historic center, on Via Lunga degli Aborigeni—an ancient street that, like a local “passetto,” connects De Falconibus Castle to the Convent of the Reformed Fathers—will in fact be an experiment in artistic fusion. Words and matter will seek one another, embrace one another, and complete one another before the eyes of the audience.

Following institutional greetings from Pietro D’Alfonso, Mayor of the Municipality of Pulsano; Antonella Lippolis, Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Social Policies and Integration, Culture, Entertainment and Equal Opportunities; and Cosima Bolognino, Councillor for Public Education, Youth Policies, Educational and Training Policies, and Demographic Services, Vincenzo Ludovico, representing the MAP, the Pulsano Civic Archaeological Museum, will introduce the event with a brief presentation on the theme “The Urban Fabric: Stones Woven into the Patterns of Time.” Host: Matteo Gentile, journalist and writer.

On one side will be the intense pages of Lilly De Siati and her work “Woven on the Loom of Time”. It is a book that offers an intimate journey, a map of memory, and a thread stretched out to bind together memories, nostalgia, and also the light and visceral love for our land.

On the other side is the visual art of Carmelinda Petraroli and her EVOART (TM) technique—a unique way of painting that does not use traditional pigments, but rather the most sacred and ancestral elements of our identity: extra-virgin olive oil and wine on card stock. In the background, music will play which, in the words of Victor Hugo, “expresses that which cannot be said and about which it is impossible to remain silent.”

But why bring these two forms of expression into dialogue? Because there is an invisible and extraordinary connection between the way Lilly writes and the way Carmelinda paints, in addition to the personal harmony of friendship and mutual esteem between them.

The evening will unfold in two seamless parts, following the rhythm of the creation of an emotional journey.

The event will take place on Wednesday, August 12, starting at 8:00 p.m., on Via Lunga degli Aborigeni, at the intersection with Vico Marotta, with EVOART Meets Narrative: “Painting with Light on the Fabric of Time.” Admission is free.

Carmelinda Petraroli, born in Turin, is an Italian contemporary painter who has been active mainly in Puglia, where she has lived for many years. The daughter of an artist, she inherited her passion for painting from her father, Orazio Petraroli, an accomplished surrealist painter, and began drawing as a child. She earned a diploma as an art teacher in Grottaglie and worked as a draftsman and architectural designer before devoting herself fully to art. Her figurative painting combines elements of classicism and modernity and focuses on the expression of emotions and the inner dimension. Throughout her career, she has taken part in numerous exhibitions and competitions, receiving various accolades, including prizes at national art events and first place at the Festival dell’Immagine in Martina Franca. Lilly De Siati, from Grottaglie, is a writer, cultural promoter, teacher, author and advocate of reading. She devotes herself to literary and poetic storytelling rooted in the identity, traditions and human dynamics of the Apulian region. Her works include novels and poetry collections addressing themes connected with inner experience, family roots and the memory of places. She is the author of fictional works and poetic texts characterized by a profound sensitivity to introspective detail and the depiction of local settings. She actively participates in cultural events, book presentations, literary salons and poetry readings in collaboration with associations and institutions in the Ionian area. She is committed to promoting contemporary literature and to organizing and participating in multidisciplinary cultural initiatives, including dialogues between painting, music and writing.

Vincenzo Ludovico, active in the cultural scene of Puglia and the Ionian area, stands out for his commitment to promoting the artistic and historical heritage and local traditions of Pulsano and its surrounding area. Through his work with the MAP, he promotes contemporary art, historical memory and public engagement with the community’s cultural heritage.
