Polso Sano XLI Edizione

From August 18 to 20, the historic center of Pulsano (TA) will travel back in time with the 41st edition of Polso Sano, the historic medieval reenactment organized by the Pro Loco of Pulsano APS.

For three evenings, the atmospheric De Falconibus Castle, Piazza Castello, and the characteristic streets of the village will be transformed into an authentic medieval village, brought to life by shows, historical processions, street performers, musicians, flag-wavers, staged battles, markets, traditional games, and areas dedicated to medieval-inspired cuisine.

The event will begin on Tuesday, August 18, with the opening of the Medieval Tavern and Polso Sano Junior, an area for children featuring games inspired by the Middle Ages. The evening will continue with the traditional proclamation of the announcement for the 41st edition, followed by the theatrical performance “AD 1480 – The Story of the Martyrs of Pulsano in Otranto,” an exciting show featuring staged battles and historical reenactments in Piazza Castello.

Wednesday, August 19, will be dedicated to total immersion in the Middle Ages. The village will host the Medieval Village, the Medieval Market, and the Hostaria delli Falconi, offering dishes inspired by the cuisine of the period. Inside the castle, visitors will find historical displays featuring birds of prey, snakes, fakirs, fortune-tellers, and demonstrations of traditional crafts, as well as a large Wooden Playground with more than fifty handcrafted games. The evening will be enriched by the District Tournament – The Joust of the Districts, the Medieval Dinner, the arrival of the Royals with the flag-raising ceremony, and itinerant performances involving the entire historic center.

The grand finale is scheduled for Thursday, August 20, with the traditional Historical Procession, which will pass through the streets of Pulsano with hundreds of participants in period costumes, musicians, drummers, flag-wavers, and historical groups from all over Italy. Piazza Castello will then host the final performances, street artists’ shows, and the conclusion of the 41st edition of Polso Sano.

Guests and participating groups include Avium Sodalitas, the historical group of the Pro Loco of Pulsano, the flag-wavers of Rione Lama from Oria, the Altilla Stupor Mundi flag-wavers from Altamura, the bagpipe player Carlo, the fakir and fire-eater Vandaval, and the Teste di Legno company, featuring puppet theater and medieval games.

Three days of history, entertainment, culture, traditions, and flavors in the heart of the village of Pulsano, offering an engaging experience that attracts thousands of visitors every year from across Puglia and beyond.
