Un Mondo di Fichi - XI Pomologica
On Sunday 6 September 2026, from 4.00 pm until sunset, the Giardini di Pomona in Cisternino will open the doors of their Botanical Conservatory for the 11th edition of the Pomological Exhibition, an event dedicated to figs, the centrepiece of the Botanical Conservatory’s collection.

A World of Figs showcases the extraordinary biodiversity preserved at Pomona through over 400 varieties of figs, in one of the most important fig collections in the Mediterranean basin.

An afternoon immersed in nature, flavour, art and culture, accompanied by Paolo Belloni, founder of I Giardini di Pomona, as we explore the Conservatory and the fig grove. The tour will be enhanced by a tasting of over 100 varieties of figs, offering the chance to discover and savour the surprising diversity of shapes, colours, aromas and flavours found within a single species.

The day will also feature an artistic performance by CIRCOlare – Scuola di Circo from San Vito dei Normanni, which will enliven the walk through the fig grove, and the presentation of A Sud Alberi. Botanical Journeys from Rome Southwards, by Luca Bergamin, journalist and writer for the ‘Corriere della Sera’
and ‘Il Sole 24 Ore’. A narrative journey through the trees, landscapes and stories of Southern Italy, in the spirit of beauty and a love of nature.
