INTRUMENT JAM

INSTRUMENT JAM
Zappalà Danza Company

An intense dialogue between contemporary dance and live music, in which the body becomes an expressive instrument and sound is transformed into movement. *Instrument Jam*, created by choreographer Roberto Zappalà, is one of the most representative productions of the Zappalà Danza Company, one of the leading names on Italy’s contemporary dance scene.

The performance brings together the three chapters of the *Instruments* project, devoted to the marranzano (the Sicilian Jew’s harp), the hang, and drums. On stage, seven dancers and three musicians create an engaging “jam session” in which tradition and contemporary expression meet, evoking a boundless Sicily—intense, vibrant, and profoundly Mediterranean.

Founded in Catania by Roberto Zappalà, the company is internationally renowned for its original choreographic language and for an artistic exploration that combines dance, theatre, and music in productions acclaimed at major festivals and theatres around the world.

Featuring a musical score performed entirely live and powerful, evocative physical dance, *Instrument Jam* offers an immersive experience in which rhythm, energy, and poetry merge into a single, compelling stage narrative.
