Andrea Pennacchi "Shakespeare and me"

**ANDREA PENNACCHI AT CASA DELLE ARTI WITH “SHAKESPEARE AND ME”**

On September 12, the actor, author, and *Propaganda Live* personality explores his relationship with Shakespeare—between irony and truth—for the penultimate event of the 2026 Summer Season.

The 2026 Summer Season at Casa delle Arti continues with a program that, from June to September, brings nine events spanning music, theatre, and new contemporary forms to Conversano. The program is part of the second year of **ITs – Identities, Territory, Scenarios**, a three-year project supported by the Ministry of Culture and the Apulia Region. On Saturday, September 12, Casa delle Arti will host Andrea Pennacchi with *Shakespeare and Me*, a show written and performed by the actor from Padua, featuring live music by Giorgio Gobbo.

Harold Bloom argued that Shakespeare invented the human being. What is certain, however, is that his works helped Andrea Pennacchi—and many others like him—to gain a deeper understanding of humanity. In *Shakespeare and Me*, Pennacchi recounts how the Bard, his works, and his characters changed his life. He presents Shakespeare’s body of work to the audience not as a sacred, immutable text entrusted to a select few priests, but as a living matrix, a lens through which to interpret the contemporary world: a tool available to everyone. Because, as Pennacchi himself says, “the stories you tell change the world—one person at a time.”

A theatre-maker since 1993, Andrea Pennacchi is the author of numerous theatrical works, including *Heroes*, *My Father – Notes on the Civil War*, *A Little Odyssey*, and *Pojana and His Brothers*. He is a co-star of the series *Petra* (Sky) and *Everything Calls for Salvation* (Netflix), and has appeared in films such as Andrea Segre’s *Shun Li and the Poet* and *Welcome Venice*, Carlo Mazzacurati’s *The Happiness Chair*, and Stefano Sollima’s *Suburra*. In 2018, he brought the monologue *This Is Racism – Hello, Southern Italians* to the stage, earning him a regular guest spot on *Propaganda Live* (La7). In 2023, he won the Silver Ribbon and the Filming Italy Best Movie Award for Best Supporting Actor for *Everything Calls for Salvation*, and joined the cast of *Berlinguer – The Great Ambition*. His publications include *Shakespeare and Me* (People, 2022) and, more recently, *If the Rose Had Not Had Its Name* (Marsilio, 2024).
