**FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9, at 7:00 p.m.**
**Multipurpose Hall, Torre Vado**

## BOOK PRESENTATION

**_Misterious Caverns: Legends of Caves in Salento – An Anthropological Account_**

by **Alessio Stefàno**

The book brings together—in the form of short stories—the most fascinating and enigmatic karst legends of Salento.

The author offers symbolic and anthropological interpretations of these legends, delving deeply into Salento’s traditional culture, where certain places represent not only centers that validate the identity and sense of belonging of local communities, but also genuine thresholds between the human and supernatural worlds.

Following institutional greetings from the Mayor of Morciano di Leuca, Lorenzo Ricchiuti, and the Councillor for Culture, Ombretta Renzo, the author will engage in a discussion with Marco Piccinni (Tricase Speleological Group), who will report on the cleanup work carried out inside the Vora Grande sinkhole in Barbarano del Capo, and with Marco Cavalera (Archès APS), who will provide an update on the survey, study, and official cataloguing of the caves of Torre Vado.

The short film **“The Vora Grande of Barbarano: Between Geology, History, and Legends,”** produced by B. Luigi Nuzzo, will also be shown. The footage was filmed by Emanuele Levantaci, Antonio Pellico, and the GST, with narration by Elisa Maggio.

During the event, the Teatro delle Quinte, directed by Nicola Luigi Torricella, will present theatrical readings and evocative performances.

We look forward to seeing you on **Friday, October 9, at 7:00 p.m.** at the Torre Vado service area, in the multipurpose hall.

The event is organized by the Archès APS Association and the Tricase Speleological Group, under the patronage of the Municipality of Morciano di Leuca and with the valuable collaboration of Teatro delle Quinte.
