# AUTUMN IN THE ALLEY AND PIAZZA DUOMO
## OCTOBER 24–25, 2026

## ART, HISTORY AND COMMUNITY IN THE HISTORIC CENTER: “AUTUMN IN THE ALLEY” RETURNS TO BRINDISI ON OCTOBER 24–25

An entire weekend dedicated to painting, street music, reading, yoga and conviviality among the former Convent of Santa Chiara, Via Santa Chiara and Piazza Duomo. The event is held under the patronage of the Municipality of Brindisi and is included in the city program “Brindisi Cambia Passo” (“Brindisi Changes Gear”).

Following the great success of the spring edition, Brindisi’s historic center is preparing to welcome residents and visitors once again for “Autumn in the Alley: Art, History and Reading,” a city-wide event taking place on Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25, 2026. The initiative is promoted by Santa Spazio Culturale – Biblioteca del Vicolo, in its role as a “Neighborhood House,” and organized by the association Yeahjasi Brindisi APS, which manages the spaces of the former Convent of Santa Chiara.

Held under the patronage of the Municipality of Brindisi, the event aims to highlight the city’s monumental and social heritage, transforming Via Santa Chiara and the surrounding areas into a genuine open-air artistic and cultural workshop, completely free and accessible to everyone. Sunday, October 25, will also officially be part of the city program “Brindisi Cambia Passo,” confirming the importance of networking to regenerate and enliven the urban environment.

## THE PROGRAM AND PERMANENT INSTALLATIONS

Throughout the weekend, from 10:00 a.m. onward, the spaces will come alive with a range of ongoing exhibitions and activities. Piazza Duomo will provide a splendid setting for a static display of vintage Vespa scooters, curated by the Vespa Club of Brindisi, while Via Santa Chiara and the cloister of the former Convent will host street music and live painting. A static painting exhibition and a market featuring local hobbyists’ crafts will be set up inside the historic rooms.

The event will also maintain a strong connection with the local area: from the morning onward, stands hosted by local agricultural businesses—featured in the book *History of Agriculture in Brindisi*—will be present. For the entire duration of the event, a Café Area curated by Vita’s Bistrot will also be open.

## SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24: ART, YOGA AND CLASSICAL MUSIC

The weekend will begin with a focus on wellness and art. From 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., painters and illustrators will create works live along the alley and in Piazza Duomo, accompanied by the music of acoustic street musicians.

From 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., the PADMA Association will organize a special “Autumn Yoga” session with Claudia Tulsi Lovato. The session is available by reservation, with a voluntary donation benefiting the Nirvanavan Foundation. After the traditional “Picnic in the Garden” from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., the afternoon will continue from 4:30 p.m. in the Library with board games organized by La Scatola di Pandora. The day will conclude at 8:30 p.m. with the classical music concert *Musical Intimacies*, presented by *Le voci dell’arte APS*.

## SUNDAY, OCTOBER 25: READINGS, TRADITION AND UNPLUGGED MUSIC

Sunday will once again feature live art and morning street music, with the addition, at 11:00 a.m., of the “Autumn Readings” workshop for children aged five and over. Reservations are required.

In the afternoon, following a shared lunch in the garden, the program will turn to local history. At 5:30 p.m., the former Convent will host a presentation of the book *History of Agriculture in Brindisi* by agricultural expert Dr. Fabio Protopapa, in collaboration with the History Digital Library Casa del Turista (HDL). The event will close at 8:00 p.m. with the acoustic concert *Unplugged 2*, held inside the Biblioteca del Vicolo.

“Our space offers cultural activities to the community every day, but with this event we want to open our doors to the outside world, creating a direct dialogue with the alley, the squares and the citizens. It is an opportunity to experience autumn while rediscovering the beauty of our historic center, bringing together art, reading and traditions in an atmosphere of genuine sharing.”

Admission to all activities is free of charge.
