Braggion - Cassano, CANTI D'AMORE E DI NOSTALGIA

**SONGS OF LOVE AND NOSTALGIA: CHIARA BRAGGION AND PIERO CASSANO IN CONCERT AT THE KURSAAL THEATRE IN BARI**

On Friday, November 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., the Kursaal Santalucia Theatre in Bari will host *Songs of Love and Nostalgia*, a refined event dedicated to the chamber vocal repertoire, as part of the 4th International Mediterranean Piano Festival.

The concert will feature soprano Chiara Braggion and pianist Piero Cassano, performing a programme that explores some of the most evocative works of European chamber song from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

It will be a musical journey in which love, memory, desire, and nostalgia become the guiding threads of a programme that brings together the Italian tradition with the refined atmospheres of the French mélodie and the German Lied.

The concert will open with Francesco Paolo Tosti, one of the leading figures in the Italian romance tradition. His *Quattro canzoni di Amaranta* and *Due piccoli notturni* will be performed—works of intense melodic elegance in which the voice conveys the most intimate nuances of romantic feeling.

This will be followed by *Stornellatrice* by Ottorino Respighi, a composition inspired by the evocative qualities of the Italian poetic tradition, before entering the sound world of Maurice Ravel with *Vocalise-étude en forme de habanera*, *Kaddish*, and *L’énigme éternelle*. These three works reveal different aspects of the French composer’s sensibility, combining refined tone colours, folk-inspired elements, and spirituality.

The programme will continue with Reynaldo Hahn, a refined exponent of the French mélodie, through four particularly captivating compositions: *L’Énamourée*, *À Chloris*, *Chanson d’automne*, and *L’Heure exquise*. In these songs, poetry merges with intimate and evocative musical writing, creating atmospheres suspended between sweetness and melancholy.

The concert will conclude with Richard Strauss and *Morgen*, *Allerseelen*, and *Kling!*, Op. 48 No. 3. These three Lieder explore different dimensions of love, from contemplation and remembrance to the exuberance of emotion.

Through the dialogue between Chiara Braggion’s voice and Piero Cassano’s piano, the audience will be taken on a journey of great poetic sensitivity, in which music and words come together to express the deepest emotions of the human experience.
