Composed in just a few days at the age of 25, and performed for the first time on the piano by the author himself on February 12, 1924, at the Aeolian Hall in New York, "Rhapsody in Blue" is one of the most famous compositions by George Gershwin, who defined it as "a kind of multicolored fantasy, a musical kaleidoscope of America, with our mix of races, our incomparable national liveliness, our blues, our metropolitan madness". Always considered an extraordinary synthesis of popular and classical music, the Rhapsody represents the multiplicity of cultures that coexisted in America in the 1920s.
In Taranto, it will be performed in its original first version, further enhanced by the extraordinary talent and sensitivity of pianist Pasquale Iannone and the beautiful and emotional jazz vocals of Patrizia Conte who will interpret songs such as They can't take that away from me, I got rhythm, The man I love and the famous Summertime.
