ESSERI URBANI 2024 | Opening GENOTECA

We are waiting for you on Thursday, August 15 at 5:30 pm at the entrance of Villa Comunale "G. Garibaldi" in Locorotondo to walk together through Nardelli Street and present the first artistic installation of the fifth edition of the Urban Beings 2024 Art, Design and Architecture Festival: GENOTECA.

The work of Gabriele Mundula, is created in collaboration with Mina Lisi and under the artistic direction of Mirco Matarante.

GABRIELE MUNDULA, who conceived and created the work, is a thirty-year-old artist who lives in a small town in Brianza, Lombardy. Trained as an architect, his personal artistic research began after a short three-month experience in Africa and takes its name from James Hillman's book, "The Soul's Code". Architecture, history, human relationships, nature, and mysticism are the sources from which he draws to create devices in which human interaction is the most important component, resulting in works that range from urban to land art and even touch the world of innovative design.

DOMENICA LISI, better known as Mina, a housewife from Locorotondo, has been cultivating the hobby of knitting and embroidery for years, creating masterpieces of art with skill. She lends her passion to Gabriele's project, knitting hundreds of cotton balls, a task that only a determined woman like her could accept.

MIRCO MATARANTE (born in 1988) is an artist and designer with a very heterogeneous production. Following his academic training, he undertakes research with strong experimental undertones that allow him to approach different techniques and materials: with a past as a graffiti artist, he ranges from sculpture to painting to installations, while also maintaining a special relationship with ceramic modeling. Co-founder of the Dunae project in Cisternino, he currently lives and works in the Valle d'Itria.
