Martina Franca prepares to celebrate the 69th edition of the Murgese Horse Market Competition

The event will bring together over 112 breeders and 215 animals, including 90 Murgese foals ready to be evaluated by an expert jury.

From December 11 to 15, 2024, the Foro Boario fairgrounds in Ortolini, Martina Franca (Ta), will host an unmissable event for breeders and horse enthusiasts: the 69th edition of the Murgese Horse Market Competition, featuring the 17th National Show of the Murgese Horse and the Martina Franca Donkey.

The event is organized by ANAMF, the National Association of Breeders of the Murgese Horse and the Martina Franca Donkey, with the participation and support of the Municipality of Martina Franca and the Puglia Region's Department of Agriculture.

This year, over 112 breeders and 215 animals are expected, including 90 Murgese foals ready to be evaluated by an expert jury.

The program includes a series of events ranging from national shows for registration in the Stallion Registry, to national championships for stallions and mares, up to the much-anticipated Performance Competition, where the best specimens will compete in skill and dexterity tests. The Martina Franca Donkey will also have its space, with about 20 heads present at the fair.

This edition promises to be particularly rich. In addition to the traditional competitions, equestrian shows, demonstrations of animal osteopathy, and moments of meeting and exchange between breeders and enthusiasts will be organized.

The event will kick off on Wednesday, December 11, with the official inauguration and the national review for foals. The following days will feature various competitions, culminating on Sunday, December 15, with the presentation of the subjects for sale and a spectacular equestrian show.

The Murgese Horse is an indigenous Apulian breed, appreciated worldwide for its versatility and beauty. The Market Competition represents a unique opportunity to enhance this genetic heritage and promote equestrian culture.
