Works by Paola Ricci
The exhibition of Paola Ricci's works opens on Saturday, January 25th at 6:30 PM at the MUSEONUOVAERA Gallery in Bari.
The exhibition "Tramemente" presents artist Paola Ricci for the first time in the new venue of MUSEONUOVAERA Gallery, a suitable space to showcase the artist's large canvases. The canvases are partly new and partly created specifically for the event.
The title of the exhibition evokes the concept of "Trame," which represent and embody the artist's mental process, always evolving. "Tramemente" is a word that encapsulates the fusion between "trame" (weaves) and "mente" (mind), like a liaison without separation. Paola Ricci's drawing is fulfilled in the continuous evolution of the gesture, unafraid to transition from small dimensions to large canvas extensions. The drawing is the foundation that then evolves into painting. The oil colors of large pastels and the use of unconventional tools are not the only means for her gesture; the artist uses her fingers directly in contact with the canvas treated with beeswax. The weave is also the sewing, which is the dedication of the gesture over time; the sign is drawn by the embroidery that outlines the trace on fabric of objects from the past.
Paola Ricci paints with fury and meticulousness, cultivating a technique that can be achieved spontaneously. Probably, the artist refers to what Blake defined as the line, which is a painting method; indeed, the only one. The artist brings the line from the two-dimensional dimension to the three-dimensional one with the steel wire that draws in the void, creating sculptures in space.©Tancredi Gull. 2025.
