“A bit for fun, a bit not to die!” said Ettore Petrolini, quoting Madame Butterfly. And isn't it to ward off death that man, or someone higher up, invented laughter? On a polished stage, ready to welcome the "audience" of great occasions, three actors rehearse the scenes of the show they are about to perform: the famous Shakespearean tragedy "Hamlet" rewritten by the lead actor in a unique comedic style that could make you "die" of laughter! Thus, vaudeville, variety show, futurist comic theater, cabaret, and Yiddish humor are mixed in a big pot with the words of the English bard, giving rise to hilarious misunderstandings that also bring out the "strange" nature of the bond between the three.
A surreal tribute to the comedy of the '900s and its history: a relentless ride among wits, flashes, and antics fleeing from a tragedy that draws near, just like the "audience" looming beyond the curtain, marking the remaining time with noises reminiscent of the threatening approach of giants or strange war devices. . . Doubts arise that there is little to laugh at anymore. Yet... "We don't have much left to lose, it seems. Might as well... Have Fun. Right?"
