A biography turned political testament, Franca Rame and Dario Fo were able to use theatrical art as a tool of advocacy, inspiring directors, actors, and screenwriters even today to bring to the stage what they believe in and what they feel the need to fight for. Through some of the monologues that are part of the collection “Tutta casa, letto e chiesa” (It’s All Bed, Board, and Church), four young actresses bring to life on stage the distinctive traits of Franca Rame's essence: her boldness, ironic and intelligent humor, and the political power that characterized the Italian feminist movement of the ‘70s, the anger that still drives us to take to the streets for the rights that are due to us and still seem distant. The title of the performance, taken from one of the monologues, is a declaration of intent: a reminder of the collective nature of the female experience, the spontaneous empathy every woman feels when hearing narratives of violence, exploitation, subordination, and harassment. As different as we may seem, and as difficult as it may be to admit sometimes: we all have the same story to tell.
