STAFFETTA della SOSTENIBILITA' 2025

The associations Urbieterre, Ideando APS, Poli…Giò OdV, Meteo Valle d’Itria OdV, and Atletica Casalini from Cisternino (BR) are joining forces for the first “Sustainability Relay 2025” to participate in the M’Illumino di Meno 2025 campaign by the renowned radio show Caterpillar on Rai Radio 2, an event celebrated since 2005 which has become “…the pride of the intelligent optimization of resources and respect for the Planet.” The associations will organize a relay, a series of events focused on environmental awareness, involving schools and the community, in a grassroots collective project.

PROGRAM:

February 18, 2025, at 7:00 PM “THE FIRST MINI FOREST IN SOUTHERN ITALY: a seed that is germinating” by Urbieterre and Atletica Casalini. The event will kick off on February 18 with a focus on the Mini forest using the Miyawaki method (named after the famous Japanese botanist), where the first mini forest in southern Italy created using this innovative method to combat climate change will be reviewed. Participants will receive the "sustainability kit," an eco-friendly collection of tips and practical actions to start fighting climate change from their own home!

February 19, 2025, at 7:00 PM “WHAT A HEAT: small scientific experiments on climate change” by Meteo Valle D’Itria: an evening dedicated to science to understand, through small scientific experiments conducted with the participants, what is happening to our Planet and what can be done to improve it.

On the morning of February 21, 2025 “Inauguration of the Inclusive and Sustainable Library” by the associations Ideando APS and Poli…Giò OdV, with the participation of children from the kindergarten of the Cisternino Comprehensive Institute. On February 21, the inauguration of a cultural space will take place, transforming to be truly inclusive and sustainable. The project, strongly supported by the association Poli…Giò and realized with the professional support of Dr. Mariagrazia Chianura, a lawyer specializing in sustainable development and climate change, starts from afar through a study on the real needs of all children, with special attention to those with special educational needs, as well as individuals with mental, visual disabilities or those who simply do not know the Italian language. The space becomes inclusive, using graphic indications inspired by Augmentative and Alternative Communication methods, and sustainable by providing guidelines on how not to waste resources and how to properly separate waste. These methods aim to simplify and make the spaces immediately usable, making the young participants and all Library users autonomous and active in respecting the environment. All events will take place at the T. Fiore Library in Cisternino, via Dante Alighieri No. 48.
