In the camp, amidst theater rehearsals, the arrival of new deportees, and various stories, Domenico's story unfolds with dramatic and comedic situations. He will overcome all the circumstances that life in a prison camp assumes, amid laughter, songs, and rape. In a hurry, a few days before the declaration of war, the homosexual camp, thanks to the Duce's general, Bocchini, will be evacuated. Domenico will remain on the island alone for a few days and then return to the city. Before being deported, he had a romantic relationship with Lucia. He will not find her again. Lucia, originally from Veneto, had embarked for America, having lost contact with him, with an infant in her arms. Domenico will remain alone, gazing at the sea for a while, before ending up in a retirement home where he will spend his last days.
