LUCA DE FELICE presenta La memoria di un rancore
Cultural
**Investigations from the Past**
On **Wednesday, May 28**, at **7:00 PM**, the **Municipal Library of Cisternino** will host yet another event as part of the LIBER IN BORGO project, through which the non-profit organization POLI…Giò manages the "Tommaso Fiore" Library in agreement with the Municipality of Cisternino. This project has been selected and supported through the "Libraries and Communities" grant, promoted by the Fondazione CON IL SUD and the Center for Books and Reading of the Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with ANCI (National Association of Italian Municipalities).
The guest of the evening will be **Luca De Felice** with his book **'The Memory of a Grudge'**: a historical mystery rich in details and anecdotes, the result of a long and passionate historical research. The novel is set in a dark, contradiction-filled period and takes the reader to the heart of the city of Alberobello, revealing urbanistic, historical, and architectural details that remain tangible witnesses to this story. Giovanni Russo and Felice Fontana, one a journalist and the other an inspector, lifelong friends, arrive in Alberobello by train for the inauguration of the War Memorial. Giovanni, more as a punishment for his anti-fascist ideas than for actual reporting needs, is assigned by the Gazzetta di Puglia to write about this event, organized by the Mayor Pietro Campione in the town of trulli. Tonietta Liuzzi and her brother Marcello come to town to commemorate their brother Lorenzo, one of the many young men from Alberobello who died in the war. However, the town is shaken by the discovery of Tonietta's lifeless body at the "Lucilla" Boarding House near the monument. Felice and Giovanni decide to investigate this strange occurrence. A murky past and a secret kept among the trulli's citizens seem to resurface, inevitably disturbing their peace. A town with a small society rich in virtues but also in vices. It's a case that shakes the city to its core. The peculiar investigative skills of the two companions will provide the key to solving this strange discovery in room No. 104 of the boarding house. With courage and determination, Giovanni and Felice will reveal previously unknown talents. With great acumen and camaraderie, the two friends will change their destiny.
The Author – Luca De Felice – is also a theater director, committed to telling the history and traditions of Alberobello. De Felice has transformed his passion for reading and writing into a true cultural mission. Since 2007, he has been creating theatrical texts on brigandage in the Murgia of Trulli, directing the historical reenactment 'The Night of the Brigands'. Between 2012 and 2020, he wrote four plays addressing deep and current themes: The Bench, inspired by the book by L. Angiuli, Centolire – The Price of Hope and The American Package, focused on Italian emigration to the United States, and The Boarding House of Pranks, a tragicomedy that tells the stories of internees at the F. Gigante camp in Alberobello during World War II. Passionate about the history of his city, he took the opportunity during the lockdown to venture into narrative writing, creating a compelling historical mystery novel set in early 1900s Alberobello. The author will be in conversation with **Francesco Moro**. Formal greetings from **Deputy Mayor Roberto Pinto**. This is yet another cultural event organized by the POLI…Giò association in collaboration with the municipal administration of Cisternino, thanks to the "Liber in Borgo" Project.
