LILO & STITCH
Directed by Dean Fleischer-Camp. A must-see 2025 film starring Maia Kealoha, Chris Sanders, Sydney Agudong, Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen. Original title: Lilo & Stitch. Genre: Adventure, Action - USA, 2025, duration 108 minutes. One of the most convincing Disney live-actions, reaffirming a never cliched message of inclusivity and peace. It could be the innovative strength of the story already present in the original animated film, the vision of director Dean Fleischer-Camp, the creator of the splendid stop-motion work Marcel the Shell, or the perfect choice of actresses for the two lead sisters, but Lilo & Stitch in live-action works mainly because it is grounded in reality in a certain way. Of course, there’s the whole sci-fi part with Stitch, who, in reality, doesn't have a name but a code - Experiment 626 - comes from the planet Turo, where he was created just to cause havoc by the mad scientist Jumba Jookiba and is about to be 'alienated' by the President of the United Galactic Federation. In essence, he is an alien marginalized by his community who, while on the run on Earth, finds a somewhat "broken" family, with Lilo Pelekai, who after the tragic loss of her parents, lives with her newly adult sister Nani. Six-year-old Lilo will adopt what seems to her a dog, though blue, and name him Stitch, keeping him at home against her sister's wishes, who is already busy with social workers ready to negatively assess their living situation on their own.
