Concerto Finale VII Concorso di Marce Sinfoniche per Banda
The fundamental objective is to continue promoting and disseminating the composition of original music for bands and to expand the contemporary repertoire, with a particular preference for the genre of the symphonic march, to enhance the Italian territory. The goal is to continue the challenge to ensure it remains a steadfast point of reference nationally and internationally over time. Developed between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the next century, the symphonic march experienced its golden age during the interwar period, especially in those regions of central-southern Italy where band culture and tradition are still deeply rooted today.
The final concert of this edition of the competition will be conducted by Maestro Caterina Santoro. She began studying the clarinet at the age of eight, continuing until she graduated in 2005 from the Ceglie Messapica Musical Institute, now a branch of the "Tito Schipa" Conservatory of Music in Lecce. She continued and deepened her musical studies, obtaining a second-level academic diploma with a teaching focus for the Clarinet competition class, subsequently qualifying for teaching at the Nino Rota Conservatory in Monopoli. Additionally, she achieved a second-level academic diploma in interpretative and compositional disciplines for the Clarinet school with a soloist focus. She has participated in various national, European, and international competitions. She graduated in Wind Orchestra Instrumentation and also earned a degree in Band Instrumentation with honors, conducting the Carabinieri Band in Rome. As the conductor of the "Città di Martina Franca" band ensemble and artistic director of APS “Armonie d'Itria,” she continues her education by actively participating in various national and international masterclasses, living the musical culture between tradition and innovation, prioritizing the dominant sound of every era: passion.
