"Per gusto e per diletto": Francesco Aquila

📣 The literary event "For Taste and Pleasure" hosts Francesco Aquila with the book "Recipes of Life. My Way 2" (Baldini+Castoldi), interviewed by Silvia Di Dio.

📕 A recipe book? An autobiography? Recipes of Life is neither. Or both at the same time. This "recipe autobiography" tells the story of Francesco and how he became "Aquila". The most important milestones of his journey, the main ingredients. Obviously, winning MasterChef Italy 10. But also what happened before, from the long tables in Gravina to the discovery of authentic cuisine at the hotel where his mother worked. His first jobs, the first shirts drenched in sweat. And then hotel school, courses to become a maître and sommelier, weekends as a bartender, and teaching. Finally, the audition for MasterChef. But Recipes of Life mainly tells what happened afterward, answering the question almost everyone asks when they think back to a former talent show winner: what happened to him? Like everyone in those days, Aquila was stuck at home due to Covid, but, unlike others, he was swept away by a wave of affection and popularity. Then, as soon as he could, he enjoyed what he had painstakingly built: a TV show, the experience as a chef for Armani, and as a "private chef," then social media, live cooking... And always cooking as the constant theme. At the end of each story, Recipes of Life offers eight recipes. Dishes that accompanied those moments, providing a background to meetings or laughter; flavors to reproduce and make your own. Because food is never just what you cook: it’s emotion, it’s sharing, the beginning of a new story.

🔎 Francesco Aquila was born in Gravina di Puglia but grew up in Bellaria Igea Marina, where he lives with his partner and eight-year-old daughter. He is a chef, a trainer in food & beverage service and kitchen, and a hotel industry consultant. After winning the tenth edition of Master Chef Italy (2021), he hosted television programs, collaborated with prestigious brands, and continued cooking, bringing his style, balanced between tradition and innovation, technique and passion, directly into the homes of Italians. For Baldini+Castoldi, he published My Way. Zio Bricco che ricette! (2021).
