Monday, August 11, meeting at Cenate in Nardò with the tour of the historic villas.
The tour begins at the Bishop's Villa (meeting at 5:45 PM) and continues with the visit of some of the most interesting residences along the Nardò-S. Caterina road.
Flirtatious and teasing in their sinuous forms and flashy plasters, the eclectic villas stand out in certain areas that, in addition to their agricultural vocation, have historically boasted vibrancy, creativity, and ingenuity in the art of construction. A guided walk through history and landscape, a journey back in time that extends along Taverna Street; a very evocative route where one can admire some of the oldest examples, such as the Bellangelo and Manieri Elia mansions and the sumptuous Villa Taverna of the same name, belonging to the eighteenth-century core.
The guided tour focuses on private gardens and does not include access to the interior spaces.
The Déco Festival, organized by the Fluxus cooperative with the sponsorship of the Nardò Municipality's Department of Tourism and the kind cooperation of the homeowners, is in its 21st edition and offers guided tours to discover mansions and stately villas, hidden treasures that characterize the rustic Salento countryside as well as small centers of land and sea.
