Lightness is neither superficiality nor unconditional acceptance, but an **invitation to open ourselves to change**, to abandon the non-essential, and to recognize what makes us feel good. It is a springboard that uses the laws of physics to rise where the air is lighter. A feather does not tip the balance, but when tossed into the air, it will flutter to the ground under the effect of gravity; flying, however, requires the exercise of opposing force. Approaching life with lightness “does good for the blood,” and neuroscience, following popular wisdom, confirms this: it reverses the course of stress, improves the immune and cardiovascular systems, and balances hormones. But how can we free ourselves from the reins and weights that anchor us in daily life? Filippo Losito explores **eight ways** to train ourselves to harness the propulsive force of living lightly. Practicing humor, play, and lateral thinking leads us to find creative solutions, embrace new perspectives, and rediscover natural optimism. The currents of lightness push us to **deactivate our internal navigation systems**, to bless mistakes, and to enjoy the art of getting lost without worrying too much about the landing. To take off, no great equipment is needed: just winged sandals and the desire to engage, reactivating the instinct that renews positivity and nurtures new neural patterns. The reward? Gliding over things from above, for light are the soul and thoughts of those who laugh. Is it possible to calibrate the scales of good humor? In what gym do we train for the lifting of the soul? And with which daily exercises can we empty the bag of thoughts and lighten emotions? From the co-founder of the first stand-up comedy school in Italy, a book that teaches how to delight the spirit.
Filippo Losito, specialized in Advanced Training in Spiritual Accompaniment in illness and dying, has written for cinema, theater, and television. As a screenwriter, he won the 48-hour Rai Awards. He taught at the Scuola Holden and worked on projects for Sky, Fox, Telecom, Juventus, Save The Children. Among his other books, he published “Stand-up Comedy. From Writing to Live Performance. Theory, Mechanics, and Practice” (Dino Audino, 2019) and “Humor and Lateral Thinking” (Egea, 2021).
The event is organized by the Gregorio Vetrugno Aps Culture Room of Novoli, which, with the OSTELLO Smart & Art Artists in Residence project, was declared a “Winner of Common Places – an initiative promoted by the Youth Policies of the Puglia Region and ARTI, funded with resources from the 2014-2020 Cohesion and Development Fund and the National Youth Policies Fund.”
