MUSEUM OF THE ABSURD - Theatrical Tour Guided visits combining history and theater in the MUSEO CIVICO PRINCIPE ROMANAZZI CARDUCCI DI SANTO MAURO_PUTIGNANO (BA) The museum encounters the theater of the absurd. The guided tour inside the Museo Civico Principe Guglielmo Romanazzi Carducci di Santo Mauro becomes an immersive and interactive experience where visitors meet bizarre characters, designed as guardians of the stories of the palace and channels for the emotional and perceptual reactions of the guests. Theater becomes a channel of investigation and an exceptional cognitive tool aimed at building a creative bridge between past and present, between history and current society, between the memories of the place and the visitors. A friendly and nosy concierge, a role drawn from "The New Tenant" by Eugène Ionesco, welcomes visitors, eager to show her noble "condominium," hopeful that someone might become a new tenant. A woman with a generous soul, but unfit for life, she wishes to somehow claim ownership of the place, seeking a sense of belonging tainted by latent individualism. Lucky, a role inspired by the homonymous character from "Waiting for Godot" by Samuel Beckett, is a strange man with contemporary and youthful features, the soul of a servant and confidant of Prince Guglielmo. He guides guests, observing their reactions and seeking their help to write a new story where past, present, and future can coexist, to affirm and confirm the museum's value as a collective and shared cultural heritage. Lucky and the concierge accompany guests during a museum tour that does not spare surprises... Inside the noble palace, four characters extracted from some of Samuel Beckett's plays reside illegally, trapped in an undefined time between the two world wars, waiting for someone to arrive, maybe a certain Godot, perhaps the Prince, or maybe the Prince's guests. The nosy concierge, with her absurd plans, intends to expel them to rent the rooms to visitors. Lucky aims to free them from their imprisonment in space-time, from their eternal wait, to trigger a virtuous encounter between history and modernity, between memory and contemporaneity. In the museum tour, we meet Vladimir and Estragon: two tramps without any place in society who have seen much of the 20th century but, for some reason, remain stuck in the short century, in that in-between time, awaiting someone to tell them how to live in the 21st century, how to change the history of a place, of themselves. In the bathroom, a lady with curious features, forever in search of love, embodies all the female figures that characterize the life of Prince Guglielmo: Winnie from "Happy Days" by the same Beckett. In the studies, we find the character of Hamm extracted from the play "Endgame" by S. Beckett, which echoes the figure of the prince in both his authoritative traits and his more fragile ones. The museum's story intertwines with more popular anecdotes, the stories of the characters, references to contemporaneity, and the impressions and emotions of the visitors, so that from an old story always arises a new story.
