The book by Antonella Massa, "ORANGES, ANCHOVIES AND OTHER MELANCHOLIES," is composed of four stories that are tales of lives and souls, imbued with a subtle nostalgia, as if they had a melodious and melancholic undertone, reminiscent of other times and places. The protagonists are observers: they look at the world, others, and themselves, both outwardly and inwardly, like explorers of the unspoken. There is a letter waiting to be opened, the sea and its travelers, a small house that buildings try to suffocate, and a mysterious tower rising over a square. The stories are accompanied by four recipes, in a continuous play on the senses.

A female narrating figure evokes meetings or family memories, describing observations typical of someone who sets out to "look" at the surrounding world with curious and reflective eyes. In each story, a dish is mentioned, whose recipe is included at the end of the narrative, as if to emphasize the memory of the scent or sight that accompanied the event. During the dialogue with the author, actress Renza de Cesare will read some excerpts from the stories and will prepare live one of the dishes mentioned to be tasted at the end of the presentation. Adriana L'Abbate, president of the cultural association Con.Fusione, introduces the book presentation.

Antonella Massa, painter art therapist, born in Sanremo, later lived in Bergamo where she managed an atelier and a cultural association, and since 2018 resides in Cisternino (BR). She has exhibited in Italy and abroad with solo and group exhibitions of contemporary art and is currently also dedicated to the recovery of ceramics, reworking them in the Japanese wabi-sabi style. Passionate about travel, photography, cultures, and traditions. She has published "The things from which you disappeared" (2019) with Planet Book, "Stronger than abandonment" (2022) with CSA Editrice, "Harmonies of infinity" (2018), and several other books from 1995 to the present. She lives in a trullo in the countryside with her three beloved cats.
