**FRANZ LISZT (1811 – 1886)
12 Transcendental Études, S 139**
**Christian De Nicolais** born in Naples on 09/11/2007, a student of Salvatore Orlando, quickly mastered the cornerstones of the piano repertoire, also presented at the Paolo Grassi Foundation in Martina Franca in the courses by Francesco Libetta.
On June 13, 2025, at the "Aldo CICCOLINI" Foundation in Trani, he performed the 12 Transcendental Études by Franz Liszt live in a single concert, a very rare feat even for pianists with extensive experience. Currently, he is the youngest pianist in the world to have performed the monumental Lisztian cycle at 17 years old, considered among the most difficult in the entire concert repertoire. His performance attracted the attention of important pianists for the interpretative maturity and technical mastery demonstrated at such a young age.
In 2022, he received his first recognitions in international competitions: at the XII edition of the "Don E. Smaldone" European Piano Performance Competition in Angri; at the Steinway Prize in Naples; at the V edition of the Franz Liszt Center Competition in Valencia; and his first invitations for public concerts: Palazzo Maddaloni - Sala Chopin, Naples; Santa Maria del Carmine, Rome; S. Domenico, Martina Franca; Teatro S. Giovanni, Brescia; Teatro Verdi, Brindisi, at the Civic Museum "R. Marrocco" in Piedimonte Matese; up to the Teatro Melis in Cagliari and the Historic Palazzo Serra for the inauguration of the 36th year of activities of the Erich Fromm Center for Philosophical Studies in Naples.
During concerts and gala evenings, he performed both as a soloist and in accompaniment to dancers from the Teatro alla Scala in Milan Benedetta Montefiore and Francesco Mascia, as well as in chamber ensembles. He also played four hands with the famous pianist Francesco Libetta, performing Brahms’ Symphony No. 3 at the Teatro Melis in Cagliari.
He participated in MasterClasses by Carlo Palese, Sergey Kuznetsov, Andrea Bonatta, Alexander Lonquich. Among the next works he will present to the public are the 4 Ballades and the 24 Preludes Op. 28 by Chopin, the Études Op. 33 by Rachmaninoff (also included in a show with actress Maddalena Magi, touching various cities in Europe and beyond).
