FestivalFlorio
Live music
After years of silence and an emotionally charged autumn preview, the FestivalFlorio finally returns in its summer form, in the land where it was born and grew. From June 28 to July 5, 2026, the island of Favignana will once again be the vibrant heart of a high-quality cultural showcase. This long-awaited return is passionately shared and built by the entire Egadi community and its protagonists: from the Municipality of Favignana to the Kymbala Association, including artists, institutional and private partners, and a whole network of volunteers.
FestivalFlorio 2026 is a promise kept. It is the echo of a cultural project that has never fully extinguished, but today is reborn with renewed energy, as if wanting to "weave the threads" of the interrupted narrative, to reweave the dialogue between the islands and the world. This dialogue has distant roots and a broad view towards Europe, thanks also to the work of artistic director Giuseppe Scorzelli, who lives and works between Germany and Italy, actively promoting the Festival within international tourism and cultural circuits.
"The return of FestivalFlorio represents a powerful signal of rebirth for our community," says the Mayor of Favignana, Giuseppe Pagoto. "After difficult years, bringing a cultural event of this scale back to the island means much more than filling a calendar: it means giving the Egadi a voice in the national artistic landscape, offering concrete opportunities for sustainable development. The Festival is not just an appointment: it is a common good, an identity brand, a project that belongs to all of us. And in this edition, we want to make it feel alive, close, accessible, rooted in the territory and capable of looking far."
It is indeed through culture that the Egadi Islands can rethink their position in the Mediterranean, promoting an intelligent tourism de-seasonalization based on experience, storytelling, and quality. In this context, the intense work of internationalization led by Giuseppe Scorzelli— in synergy with institutions, festivals, and European cultural networks—has already yielded concrete results: from participation in the BIT in Milan and the ITB in Berlin, to the dialogue initiated with Ryan Air to enhance direct connections from Germany to Trapani, and the prestigious recognition of the EFFE Label, awarded each year to the best European festivals.
"This edition of FestivalFlorio is born as a bridge to the future," explains Giuseppe Scorzelli. "After the forced stop, we restart with a nimble program, but rich in content and meaning. We wanted to create a common thread that ties together words and music, storytelling and reflection, memory and current events. The theme running through the entire program is that of heritage: artistic, human, cultural. We will see this in major theatrical tributes, concerts, and meetings. And we will breathe it in the symbolic place of the Festival, the former Florio Factories: a stone cathedral that continues to tell us stories, asking us about the future."
The Festival will kick off with an event of great symbolic significance: the award of the Favignana Prize for Theater to Leo Gullotta on Sunday, June 28. This recognition celebrates not only an extraordinary career, but also a way of inhabiting the stage and life with depth, irony, and coherence. Gullotta will be the protagonist of a public meeting and the award ceremony at the historic venue of the former Florio Factories, in the presence of local authorities.
The next day will feature a heartfelt tribute to Gigi Proietti, with the show "Insegnamenti e chiacchiere," presented by his daughter Carlotta Proietti, alongside Claudio Pallottini. A theatrical, musical, and emotional journey into the world of the great Roman master, filled with memories, anecdotes, and valuable artistic legacies.
The program continues on Tuesday, June 30, with a day entirely dedicated to pianist and composer Enrico Pieranunzi, who will narrate and interpret two giants of music: Bill Evans, to whom he has dedicated his most recent book, the subject of the afternoon event, and Ennio Morricone, in honor of whom his evening concert is titled "Pieranunzi plays Morricone."
The traditional collaboration with the "Antonio Scontrino" Conservatory of Music in Trapani is reaffirmed on July 1, which will bring the best students of the year to perform in concert in Favignana. The Egadi tour will subsequently continue in Levanzo and Marettimo.
On July 2, it will be a day of familial intimacy and remembrance, with two encounters intertwining art and memory: in the afternoon, historian Maria Procino will guide us through the unpublished letters of Eduardo and Luca De Filippo, while in the evening, Marco Morricone, the Maestro's son, will portray his father Ennio as both a man and a genius, in a dialogue filled with emotion.
Great anticipation surrounds the concert of Raphaela Gromes and Julian Riem on Friday, July 3, two of the most acclaimed interpreters of European classical music. Their program, inspired in part by the Fortissima! project dedicated to forgotten female composers, will be a declaration of love for art and beauty, extending also to public masterclasses.
On Saturday, July 4, the festival will open to historical and spiritual reflection with a meeting led by Mario Prignano, who will analyze the figure of St. Francis and the Papacy in 13th-century Italy. In the evening, attention will shift to science and theatrical narration with "Cacciatori di comete," an original performance featuring Paolo Ferri and Amedeo Feniello, accompanied by the guitar of Carlo Mascilli Migliorini, for a tale intertwining cosmology, history, and poetry.
Closing this intense week on Sunday, July 5, will be pianist and composer Giovanni Allevi with his new project "Armonie Invisibili": a performance that promises to be an immersive and sensory experience where music becomes word, reflection, and healing. An evocative finale for an edition that aims to leave a mark.
During the Festival, workshops, meetings, wine tastings, and musical masterclasses hosted by the guest artists, including Giovanni Baglioni (acoustic guitar) and Raphaela Gromes (cello), will also be offered, creating a virtuous mix of high training, local tradition, and international dialogue. Some events will require a fee, but the majority of initiatives will be free of charge to encourage the broadest and most diverse participation possible.
FestivalFlorio is promoted by the Kymbala Association in collaboration with the Municipality of Favignana, and benefits from the cooperation of the Trapani Conservatory, the MEMA Mediterranean Music Association, the Sicilian Cuisine Association, Camparia, and numerous sponsors and partners, including Cantine Florio and Mare Puro.
The complete program in detail will be updated soon on the official website www.festivalflorio.it.
