Where is my T-shirt
Art & photography
Cultural
As part of MAGGIO D’ARTE, a series of art events promoted by Scuola Ricamo Valtopina with the patronage of the Municipality of Valtopina, the relational art project “WHERE IS MY T-SHIRT” by artist MONICA GIOVINAZZI will be presented, curated by Barbara Pavan, under the coordination by Maria Mancini.
From 14 to 17 May 2025, Giovinazzi will undertake a creative residency in the Umbrian village, engaging with local children and teenagers in both school and extracurricular settings. The aim is to transform a universal, everyday object—the T-shirt—into a collective work of art. The project fosters shared reflection on the concept of community, while also addressing key contemporary issues such as recycling, consumerism, and environmental sustainability. Through a participatory and interactive process, Where is my T-shirt invites younger generations to become active agents in a journey that unites education, creativity, and ecological awareness.
The residency will culminate in a large-scale installation: a sphere composed of kilometers of repurposed T-shirt strips, accompanied by videos, testimonials, and reflections collected during the workshop. The work stands as a visual metaphor for collective consumption, celebrating the value of collaboration and shared creation.
The final installation will be unveiled to the public on Saturday, 17 May 2025, at the Museum of Embroidery and Textiles of Valtopina, Via Gorizia 19–30. Free admission.
This project reflects the broader mission of Maggio d’Arte: to promote contemporary artistic languages and foster cultural and social growth through art, with a particular emphasis on younger generations and the enhancement of the local territory.
