On Saturday, February 1st, 2025, at 5:00 PM, SCD Studio (Via Bramante 22n, Perugia) inaugurates "AbbeceDiariu," the first project room of the 2025 exhibition season. The art project, created by Sardinian artist Luciana Aironi and curated by Barbara Pavan, explores the transformative power of language.
"AbbeceDiariu" is an artistic project that investigates the power of language and its impact on the intimate structure of the human being. The exhibition consists of twenty-five works created with embroidery and mixed techniques on X-rays, some of which are backlit by LEDs, where the dialogue between word and material explores memory, identity, and the relationship between body and language.
Aironi uses X-ray sheets as metaphors for body transparency and human fragility. She embroiders words in Sardinian dialect on them, a mother tongue rooted in both emotional experience and the context of the local community of belonging. Each embroidered term becomes an indelible sign of personal and collective experiences, evoking the transformative and sometimes traumatic power of language. The dialect, with its visceral authenticity, expresses a direct and unmediated truth, making the link between word and body tangible and powerful.
The choice of embroidery, a technique traditionally associated with the female universe, amplifies the symbolic value of the works. Each stitch becomes a reparative gesture, capable of fixing and mending the wounds of the past, evoking language as a tool both of healing and of potential harm. In this perspective, the body—represented in the X-rays—becomes a palimpsest on which words leave deep traces, shaping memory and identity.
With "AbbeceDiariu," Aironi invites reflection on the power of words to define the human being, both for better and for worse. In an era marked by polarizing and sometimes destructive communication, the artist urges a deeper and more responsible awareness of language use.
The exhibition will be open until March 1st, 2025. Catalogue available on-site.
