IL NUOTATORE DI AUSCHWITZ con Raul Bova

THE SWIMMER OF AUSCHWITZ
Inspired by the true story of Alfred Nakache and the book "Man's Search for Meaning" by Viktor E. Frankl

with Raoul Bova

Adaptation and direction by Luca De Bei

Synopsis
Alfred Nakache was a French swimmer of Jewish origin, holder of a world record. In Auschwitz, he was prisoner number 172763. Despite his imprisonment and unheard-of deprivations, he never stopped training by diving into the icy water of a water basin. His strength, his unwavering determination, allowed him to survive the horror of the camp. Upon returning to compete, he set a new record and participated in the Olympics in London. Viktor Frankl, an Austrian psychiatrist who was also interned at Auschwitz, wrote a book about the experience he lived through and about those who, like Nakache, managed to overcome that terrible ordeal soon after their liberation. The show aims to bring back these two extraordinary figures who communicate a message of hope to all of us: living certainly involves suffering, but seeking meaning in this suffering by looking towards the future with a purpose is the way to face life's toughest challenges. In this way, it is possible to ultimately discover the meaning of existence.
