La via dei Supporti, degli antichi mestieri e sapori

From 10 to 12 August 2026, the historic centre of San Basile (Province of Cosenza, Calabria) will host the 13th edition of "La Via dei Supporti e degli Antichi Mestieri e Sapori" ("The Route of the Supporti and Ancient Crafts and Flavours"), an event organized by the Municipality to promote the historical, cultural, and gastronomic heritage of the Arbëreshë village.

The 2026 edition will take place over three days. On 10 August, the programme features the cultural walk "Edicole Narranti" ("Storytelling Shrines"), dedicated to discovering the village's devotional shrines and its main landmarks, concluding at the Sanctuary of Santa Maria Odigitria. On 11 August, visitors will enjoy the theatrical walking tour "Radici in Movimento" ("Roots in Motion"), which will recount the history of the Arbëreshë community through theatre, music, and traditional songs.

On 12 August, starting at 8:00 p.m., the traditional ethno-gastronomic route through the historic centre's supporti will begin, offering tastings of local specialties, wines from Arbëreshë communities, a collective painting exhibition, displays of traditional handicrafts, historical reenactments, ceramic, cooking, and Arbëreshë craft workshops, as well as live musical entertainment throughout the route. Featured guests include Roy Panebianco, the Mérak Band, and, closing the event, the renowned Salento folk group Officina Zoè.

The initiative involves local associations, residents, and numerous institutional partners, with the support of the Italian Ministry of Culture, the Calabria Region, and other public and private organizations. Despite the difficulties caused by the recent wildfire that affected the area, the municipal administration has confirmed the event as one of the leading cultural highlights of the summer, dedicated to promoting the traditions, heritage, and identity of San Basile.
