Concert 'Homage to Milva' by Petra Magoni with Andrea Dindo featuring music by Kurt Weill.
Sixteen concerts by Roma Sinfonietta at the University of Rome 'Tor Vergata' in the 2024-2025 season featuring chamber, symphonic, jazz, gospel, and opera music. Once again this year, the Roma Sinfonietta Association is holding its concert season at the University of Rome 'Tor Vergata'. The program prepared by artistic director Luigi Lanzillotta ranges from symphonic music to electronic, chamber to choral music, and traditional songs from Italian regions. There are seventeen events, all scheduled for Wednesday (with the only exception being the concert on Thursday, April 10) at 6:00 PM in the 'Ennio Morricone' Auditorium located in the Faculty of Humanities of Rome's second state university, at Via Columbia 1. It is one of the most important concert seasons in the capital, due to the number of concerts, the interest of the programs, and the quality of the performers, all of whom are Italian – this has always been a particular feature of these concerts – chosen from among the best our country has to offer without any need to resort to foreign musicians. Another special merit of this season is bringing live music to the east area of Rome, which is almost entirely devoid of it. However, these concerts attract music enthusiasts from all over Rome, and part of the audience also comes from outside Rome, particularly from the Castelli area, which is not far from the concert venue.
The opening concert on October 23 will feature the Roma Sinfonietta Orchestra performing music by Mozart, together with violinist and conductor Giuliano Carmignola, one of the most renowned interpreters of 18th-century music, from Vivaldi and Bach to Mozart, so much so that Claudio Abbado wanted him as the soloist for his recording of all of Mozart's Violin Concertos. For this rare and precious Roman concert, he has chosen two Violin Concertos and a Symphony by Mozart. The second concert of the season continues the complete performance of Shostakovich's String Quartets, which began last year and is entrusted to one of the best Italian chamber groups, the Quartetto Guadagnini: this season includes two appointments (November 6 and March 5) with what is considered the most important cycle of Quartets of the twentieth century. However, the most important cycle of Quartets in the entire history of music is Beethoven's, which contains seventeen sublime masterpieces: it is dedicated to a three-year concert series, two installments of which will be heard this year (April 9 and 10) performed by the Quartetto d’archi della Scala.
Thus, a season full of stimulating and varied offerings, alternating between classical-styled concerts and other musical genres, but always featuring music of great value with performers of the highest level, which every enthusiast will surely appreciate.
