Piano Lab 2025 presenta Alessandro Sgobbio

The ninth edition of the traveling festival Piano Lab, presented by Ghironda, continues its tour of Apulia on Saturday, July 5th (7 PM, free entry) at the Aragonese Castle of Villanova di Ostuni, featuring Alessandro Sgobbio, a talented Apulian with an international career who explores the realms of jazz in a broad sense, as definitively certified by the third chapter of the recording trilogy "Piano Music" released with the Norwegian label Amp Music.

A composer, pianist, and producer, Alessandro Sgobbio follows a personal creative path characterized by compositions, improvisations, and musical explorations focused on the theme of spirituality. Leader of the Italian-Scandinavian quartets Silent Fires and Hitra, Alessandro Sgobbio was nominated for Top Jazz (new talents of Italian jazz) in 2023 and received the "Umbria Jazz Contest" and "Padova Carrarese" awards for the "Pericopes" project, which he co-founded. Educated at the Parma Conservatory and the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, Sgobbio received the second prize at the Luca Flores Competition in Florence before being selected for the Martial Solal competition in Paris. In France, he creates and produces new recording projects, including the Charm trio and the Debra’s Dream sextet. He has released fourteen albums as a leader and co-leader, with over two hundred concerts in America, Europe, and China. His albums "Forests" (2019), "Transparence" (2021), "Piano Music" (2022), and "Piano Music 2" (2023) have been selected as albums of the month and best albums of the year by Musica Jazz, Il Manifesto, Jazzism, All About Jazz, Europe Jazz Network, Percorsi Musicali, and numerous international publications. In his new solo album "Piano Music 3," Sgobbio presents eight tracks with as many special dedications, extending the possibilities of solo piano by intertwining acoustic sounds and electronic sonorities in a dialogue of voices.
