Percorsi BioDiversi

We have a hidden treasure in Ostuni, and we want to share it with you. The medieval peri-urban gardens are just below the historic center of Ostuni, overlooking the sea; they are countryside: a magical place where you can fully breathe in history, nature, and biodiversity. BioSolequo and WalkingWine invite you to discover them with a guided walk through wells, aqueducts, ancient crops, and modern recovery techniques.

"The Slow Food Presidia in Medieval Peri-Urban Gardens"

6:30 PM - Start of the walk from Pover'Uomo to Madonna della Grata (approximately 40 minutes), guiding you through all the Slow Food presidia cultivated in the medieval gardens: purple eggplant of Ostuni, fiaschetto tomato of Torre Guaceto, queen tomato of Torre Canne, yellow red tomato of Crispiano, Terra dei Messapica artichoke, and red onion of Acquaviva. We will also talk about the tondina almond of Ostuni, which is in the process of being recognized as a presidium.

Following will be a workshop on "weighing chicory": how are the seeds of this plant produced once it has reached the end of its life cycle? We will discover this through ancient farming techniques and gestures that today tell us how much care and patience the custodians of biodiversity have.

7:30 PM - Aperitif with organic products from the surrounding gardens curated by chef Roberta Bari, and tasting of 1 glass of wine from the WalkingWine selection. This Saturday, we are accompanied by wines from Cantine Cardone.

8:00 PM - End of event
