In many African countries, feminisms in various forms and practices have been leading a non-violent struggle for several decades to achieve civil and human rights for all. However, the narrative about Africa and migration remains trapped in cages made of prejudices and stereotypes.

**PANEL 3 - Decolonizing information: local journalism between news deserts and ghost papers (3:00 PM - 5:00 PM)**
The phenomenon of news deserts and ghost papers is beginning to be studied in the USA, but signs of its spread are also evident in Italy. Local journalism thus becomes a bastion of democracy, where the right to be informed is compromised, and the lives of citizens in some peripheral areas do not make the news. As always, minorities pay the price, and among them, women: the narrative concerning them is often laced with sexism. Female journalists, especially in peripheral areas, are preferred targets of haters.
Speakers:
Silvia Savoye – Journalist, Director of Aosta News, Vice President of ANSO
Alessia Melchiorre – Co-founder, Marea Media collective
